Built under Emperor Augustus in the 1st century AD, this impressive monument transports visitors back to Imperial Rome. With its stage wall’s imposing dimensions (103 metres long and 37 metres high and a stage 65 metres long), it is a unique testimony to the Roman presence in Provence. Opposite the theatre, the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire d’Orange displays collections that extend from antiquity to the nineteenth century.
